Responsibility of a Catholic Citizen in Canada
Responsible; the definition given in the Canadian concise dictionary is: obliged or to expected to account. The definition young teenagers would have of the word responsible would be to follow the rules of society, your parents, and other adults. To young teenagers examples of responsibility could be chores or homework. These responsibilities are generally the same to all teenagers however responsibilities of a young Catholic teenager there are additional responsibility to their faith. For example an additional responsibility would be respect. Respecting yourself, others and respect for faith in general are good examples of the additional responsibilities that young Catholic teenagers deal with daily.
In the Catholic religion God is are heavenly father. Our Father teaches us that life is to be lived in love and respect. To begin loving ourselves it has to start with learning to respect ourselves. Respecting ourselves is to look in the mirror and see a healthy image. To judge and comment about: height, facial and body features, weight, clothing or personality is not having a healthy image. As a young Catholic picturing ourselves in God’s image and living the way God intended is not always easy. The media and fellow peers are always a constant presence of negative image or influences that many teenagers are now accustom to daily. Bulimia, Anorexia, Suicide are some end results for unhealthy image or self-hatred.
God’s words say “You shall love your neighbour as yourself”. Everyone deserves respect; is what the norm should be but it is not. Teenagers face factors like bullying today, bullying is when someone or a group of people are constantly targeting an individual and are abusing them verbally and possibly physically. It is a very serious issue for teenagers and other youth. The individual being bullied may suffer with the feelings of worthlessness, stress, anger, depression or may even try a new trend of cutting themselves. Many teens notice bullying and it’s a 50/50 chance that any one will do anything to stop and help the person who is being bullying. Catholic teenagers will face bullying it is there duty to take control of the situation. Respecting others is a part of bullying because as a teenage Catholic citizen in Canada you would not be the bully or stand by while someone else is getting bullied because you treat others the way you would want to be treated.
In conclusion the Catholic value and responsibility of respecting ourselves, others and faith was chosen because I feel teenage Catholic’s practice these responsibilities daily. There are many other responsibilities that reflect the Catholic faith that I could have included however these are the ones I role model to others and that are the most important to me.

The Rush
02-22-2012
The need for speed,
The adrenaline rush is what keeps me going.
I need the speed,
I need the rush,
I need to win!
So what is in it for me?
I guess it would be to be free.
Free from the world,
The people that make me something I am not.
I need to know where to go,
I need to show that I know,
That it will be ok,
Even if couldn’t be.
